🔍 What we're looking for

We seek a talented and motivated intern to join our team at Smartex for an exciting Master's thesis project. As a Physics Engineering student passionate about optics, machine vision, and AI, you will be crucial in revolutionizing defect inspection in the textile industry. If you are eager to make a real-world impact and be at the forefront of Industry 4.0 innovation, this opportunity is perfect for you.

👇 Responsibilities

Conduct an extensive literature review on optical systems, image analysis, and AI/ML techniques related to textile defect identification.
Collaborate with our expert team to design and develop an optimized lighting system for image acquisition and processing, considering factors such as wavelengths, light angles, and camera types for application in new textile machines.
Explore machine vision and machine learning methodologies to enhance defect detection accuracy, including developing advanced image analysis algorithms.
Create and test a prototype image acquisition and analysis system incorporating data visualization and analysis modes.
Analyze and interpret the results obtained, driving improvements and refining the system based on empirical findings.
Document your research, methodologies, and outcomes in a comprehensive report, providing recommendations for future enhancements.

🛠️ Skills & Experience

Enrollment in a Physics Engineering Master's program specializing in optics, machine vision, or related fields.
Keen interest in optical principles, image processing, and machine learning concepts.
Experience in programming languages such as Python, with expertise in relevant libraries and frameworks.
Problem-solving aptitude and an analytical mindset, with meticulous attention to detail.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex ideas and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
Self-motivation and the ability to work independently while contributing actively to team goals.
Enthusiasm for innovative technologies and a drive to create tangible solutions for real-world challenges.
